A short report on the 2004 National Exhibition at "The Harrow Arts Centre"
from the 22nd to the 29th May 2004.

We enjoyed a very pleasant morning during the fourth week of May having a good look at the wonderful exhibits on show at the "Elliott Hall" in the "Harrow Arts Centre".

The standard of marquetry and the quality of the finish seems to have reached new heights this year. We have to give special mention to the Chelmsford Marquetry Group who seem to achieve levels of cutting and finish in all classes that continue to amaze everyone. They, quite naturally, won the Challenge Shield. The "runner up" was the host group Harrow, and the group that followed them in a very close third place was Meopham group. So, it's very well done Chelmsford. Congratulations.

We now include a small selection from the host of marquetry pictures on display at the National. To see all the exhibits you will need to visit the Marquetry Society web site, you can get there by selecting the link on our "useful links" page. Please enjoy this small selection of photos taken by one of the Redbridge Marquetry Group members.

Don't forget to click on your selected thumb nail picture to see that picture in full screen, then once you've finished viewing your picture, click on the top left return arrow of your screen to bring you back here when you've finished viewing your selection.

The Chelmsford Marquetry Group.

The Chelmsford Marquetry Group has been a hugely successful group for at least the past one and a half decades.

They have the enviable ability to achieve almost flawless perfect cutting and finishing to every one of their pictures from their beginners up to their premier classes.

So its a well deserved "congratulations" to the Chelmsford Marquetry Group from all us marquetarians at Redbridge.

Well, there we have it.
The 2004 National Exhibition has produced many wonderful exhibits once again. Unfortunately not everyone can be a winner of the awards, but it's still nice to take part in these exhibitions and hopefully bring pleasure and enjoyment to all the visitors to the exhibition. We hope you have found this report informative, thank you.

A "Happening" at the AGM. At the end of the exhibition week at Harrow, the Marquetry Society held their AGM. At that meeting  some representatives of one of the attending groups donned their group's "uniform" in order to promote their own particular group. This tickled the "funny bone" of a member of the executive committee so much that they made a cartoon of the event and handed it onto your web master, who, in his turn also had a good chuckle at it. As we know the group concerned has very broad shoulders and will equally appreciate the humour of that particular "observation" from the event, we include the cartoon for your enjoyment, so, just :
