2007 National Marquetry Exhibition

From Tuesday 29th May to Saturday 2nd June 2007 the Redbridge Marquetry Group hosted
the 2007 National Marquetry Exhibition at St John's RC School, Woodford Bridge.

The exhibition was a wonderful success and at times was so busy that visitors were virtually
standing "shoulder to shoulder" in that very large hall.

For those of you that couldn't attend in person, a couple of members from the editorial team
(one being your web master with his trusty old Box Brownie camera) waited for a few quiet
moments and snapped several views of the exhibition for you to enjoy.

Our master photographer Dave Walker is the main photographer in this following sequence:

On the theme of National Marquetry Exhibitions we thought you may like to see a couple of small divertissements we hope you will find interesting.

The first of these features our Chairman Roy and his "claim to fame" in a recent newspaper article concerning our 2007 National Exhibition.

The second of these divertissements concerns the thorny subject of National Exhibition judging!
We happened across an article in a 1955 copy of the Marquetarian which describes a judges interpretation of how he applies the rules when judging at a National Exhibition.
We also found a "reply article" in the very next issue that gives the counter view from a disgruntled reader who, unfortunately, preferred to remain anonymous.
The articles are wonderful reading and shouldn't be missed, so, to save you from missing them! - here is the link:
