The picture
below was the Redbridge Marquetry Group's contribution to the Marquetry
Society's Millennium Mural.
The Millennium Mural then
spent the next few years touring the country and was exhibited at many
locations.
This copy of the
Redbridge Group's picture is taken from the recently located print of a scan
made of the picture just after the cutting and gluing stages were finished.
The picture is seen in it's "raw" state before it was sanded down and
varnish applied prior to it being displayed. The glue smudges and rough
finish seem to somehow add a poignancy to the pictures main theme that
cleaning up and "finishing" can sometimes sanitize.
