The Marquetry Society

The Marquetry Society is the central body to which most of us ‘groups’ world wide are affiliated . It is a sort of head office and is the organiser of national events and publicity for marquetry as a whole. The Society, through its exhibitions and publications, helps to maintain the very high standards of marquetry seen at many events all over Great Britain, and indeed globally, as the Society also includes many members in every continent of this wonderful world of ours. The Society does a magnificent job every year with it's organising and administration of the British "Marquetry Society National Exhibition". This exhibition attracts marquetry exhibits and entries from an incredible host of Marquetarians world wide. It really shows the extremely high levels of progress that marquetry has achieved within it's own unique artistic disciplines during this last half century, the Society must take a pat on the back for it's efforts in guiding the marquetry movement to the prestigious heights it has so far reached and the further heights it will reach in the years to come.

The Society was founded in 1952 and has grown steadily since then into the august body that it is today. The Society contains a wealth of knowledge and expertise within its ranks and is always welcoming to any new or potentially new members who would like to enter the fascinating world of marquetry.

The Society produces it's own publication "The Marquetarian" on a quarterly basis. This is a superbly presented and informative magazine that, on it's own merits alone, makes it an imperative to join the Society just in order to obtain a regular copy of the journal if for no other reasons, although, to become a Society member and obtain all the other benefits of membership is equally to be recommended.
