Wednesday 11th June 2008 saw the annual  inter-group competition between the St. Albans and Redbridge Marquetry groups taking place.

The competition was well attended with the St. Albans Group making the journey to our Redbridge Group rooms.

There were six categories in the competition, these being 'beginners, intermediate, open, miniatures, three veneers and, lastly, applied'. Each of the categories comprised six carefully selected entries made up of three from each of the groups.

The difficult task of judging was done this year by two seasoned judges drawn from the Thurrock Marquetry Group.

A very pleasant cold buffet was provided by the host group.

Enrico and his band of merry St. Albans marquetarians bettered the home team in the competition, but never fear, we'll be back with a batch of brilliant Redbridge masterpieces at the next inter-group competition - when, Chairman Roy will hoist the inter-group shield above his head and proclaim "What happened there?" - or would it be "three cheers for Redbridge!" (we hope)

Congratulations to St. Albans, they put up a great selection of marquetry pieces for this competition, they certainly gave us a good run for our money and were a well deserved winning group - well done St. Albans.
